Hi, I’m Lori
Expedition guide. Teacher. Drawn to wild places, quiet moments, and good company. Penguins included.
You know that feeling you get when you travel?
Where there is time to fully connect with nature, animals, and other people without distractions.
Where life feels expansive, learning is exciting, and your perspective shifts.
As an educator, speaker, expedition guide and photographer, my work helps you feel that clarity and connection all the time, no matter if you are at home or on a wild adventure.
Experiential, educational and grounded in lived experience
I’ve built a diverse career
One day, I might be teaching a hands-on workshop about blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay, or giving one of my Signature talks at an event.
And you’ll always find me hanging out in my two private online communities, sharing my expertise and educating others about Antarctica.
The common thread in all my work is Connection
The Life changing job
Antarctica as a Classroom
It’s my job to take them hiking onshore, on Zodiac cruises through the ice, and answer their questions while watching humpbacks feed.
I also give talks on topics like the role of krill in the Antarctic ecosystem, photography techniques, and the impacts of climate change.
conservation goals
From Awe to Action
In support of this, I serve as the Vice-Chair of IAATO’s Antarctic Ambassadorship Committee, and have built a community of over 36,000 people across two Antarctica focused online groups.
I’ve learned that
People don’t change because someone tells them what to think. They change because they’ve experienced something for themselves.
A note on responsibility
I believe that wild places like Antarctica can change you, even if you’ve never been.
But if you choose to travel, I advocate for doing so consciously: mindfully, aware of what to expect and in the most responsible way possible.
If you’d like to learn more about what conscious travel to Antarctica looks like, come hang out with me at The Antarctic Experience.

Notes from the Field
Every so often, I’ll send a note from wherever I happen to be, sharing what I’m learning, creating, reading, photographing, or quietly obsessed with at the moment.
Informal. Infrequent. Just thoughtful updates for curious humans.
